Note: Class days run from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm except Government Day which ends at 5:00 pm. Study Sessions are 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Opening Party and Retreat

September 4th, 2003 Kick-off Picnic for LSS Class of 2004 and LSS Alumni – Williams-Payne House (6:00 - 8:00PM)
September 12th-13th Opening Retreat – Timber Ridge Conference Center (11:30 am Fri - 4:30 pm Sat)
 

Program Days and Study Sessions

October 2nd Cultural Diversity in Sandy Springs Study Session – With a panel of knowledgeable community representatives, we will explore issues and perspectives of living in a diverse community.
October 16th Sandy Springs Community Day – Learn in-depth about Sandy Springs, its’ history, heritage, physical features, and treasures. With on-site tours and through the eyes of those who know, we will gain a new appreciation for Sandy Springs.
November 6th Arts and More Study Session – Join in for a cultural opportunity and learn about the arts scene in Sandy Springs and explore the arts and cultural challenges we face.
November 20th Sandy Springs Business Day – What’s it like doing business in Sandy Springs? Learn about the challenges and opportunities from “Pill Hill” to the heart of the business district and in between.
December 11th Human Services Day – Experience the resources in Sandy Springs. Learn about the agencies that provide services and the challenges our citizens face. This highly interactive day will long be remembered.
January 15th Education Day – Become a student for a day. See educational facilities and special programs firsthand, meet students and learn of the challenges facing educators and those who work with youth in our community. How do the Governor’s reform; funding issues, educational Initiatives and more impact our schools and our community?
January 29th Public Safety Study Session – With a panel of experts, we will learn about crime and how it impacts each of us here in Sandy Springs. Question the panelists and learn what we as citizens need to do to make Sandy Springs safe.
February 19th Government Day – Visit The Capitol – see legislation being made! Meet with State and County Legislators who will discuss current legislation impacting us. Be thinking of questions you want answered... we will make time for them! Then on to the Courts for a firsthand look at our Justice System.
March 4th Class of ‘04 Project Planning Session – A working session. All members to meet and work with their team on their class project.
March 18th Infra-Structure Day – This day focuses on transportation and planning issues. Meet with representatives from GRTA, MARTA, DOT, ARC and learn what they are doing to solve the challenges facing Sandy Springs and what we should do.
April 15th Environmental Day – Wear your walking shoes for firsthand look at some of Sandy Springs’ greenspace treasures. Hear what is being done to expand and improve much needed parkland and help improve our environment.
April 29th Class of ‘04 Project Planning Session – A working session designed to help teams finalize their project ideas. A chance to invite community representatives to provide needed input and expertise.
 

Closing Retreat and Graduation

May 8th Closing Retreat – A one day culminating activity to cap off our class events.
May 20th Graduation and Alumni Recognition Dinner – Spouses invited
